How Do Dispensaries Work? What to Expect for Your First Time Here
You’ve read the blogs, you’ve browsed the menu, and you’ve sat in your car in our parking lot staring at our dispensary without coming inside (Just kidding. Hopefully not. That’s creepy).
You’ve done your research and you’re ready to embark on your exciting journey to your first dispensary!
Navigating our shop and answering your question of ‘How do dispensaries work?’ is simple because we put your happiness and satisfaction at the top of our to-do list.
But if you want a good feel for what to expect for your first time coming in, you’ve come to the right place, because we’ve laid it all out for you.
1. Meet the guard.
When you first get to a dispensary, the first person you’ll meet is the security guard outside of the shop, and Cloud 9 is no exception.
They’re there for your safety, so smile at them. They will probably smile back.
Have your state-issued ID ready (or don’t, and scramble with your wallet while they wait for you) so that you can get through the front door.
If you’re under 21, you’re going to want to take out your doctor’s recommendation out too.
And then, congratulations, you’ve made it into the lobby!
2. Meet the front desk.
Keep that ID out, because we’re not done with it yet.
Once inside the lobby, the next person you’ll meet is our awesome front desk person.
They’ll ask you for that ID again, and you should probably give it to them. Or else they won’t let you in. Just do it.
They have to scan your ID to put you in line and to discern whether you’re a medical patient or a recreational user.
If you’re neither, we’re not really sure what you’re doing here, but as long as you’re 21+, we’ll help you figure it out.
3. Wait and chill out a little.
At most dispensaries, you’ll find that you have to wait in the lobby for your turn to go inside.
At Cloud 9, we try to keep you waiting for as little as possible.
Most of the time, you won’t have to wait at all.
But if you do, we usually have some fliers lying around so that you don’t have to make awkward eye contact with anyone else who’s also in the lobby.
Or just get on your phone and look really busy, that seems to work too.
4. Meet the bud room.
When they call you in, you enter the bud room.
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for your entire life.
Your life flashes before your eyes as all of your wildest dreams manifest before you.
This is where the magic happens.
You’ll see concentrates, vape pens, edibles, topicals, tinctures, clones, pre-rolls, and flower.
So. Much. Flower.
But don’t freak out.
A budtender will probably notice you hyperventilating and crying about the beauty set before you, and they deal with people like this all the time.
Our budtenders, the awesome people behind the counter, are trained to help you figure out what the best products for you are based on your experience and knowledge levels, and from what you want out of your cannabis experience.
So take your time, talk to our budtenders, pick out what you want, pay for it, say thank you, and leave. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
5. Go home and do the thing!
You’re probably still in ecstasy after the experience of our shop, so take a second to breathe and reflect before starting your car.
You’re probably so happy with your purchases and your experience that you’re itching to take out your phone to leave us a review on Weedmaps, Yelp, Facebook, or Google (seriously, you’re going to want to. Every time you leave us a positive review, a puppy is born).
Once you’re done with that epic review, take one last look at your awesome new cannabis product before putting it in your trunk (it’s a legal thing, guys).
Not only do you now know how do dispensaries work, but you’ve lived it! All that’s left to do is drive into the sunset.
